Its Been a Long Time Coming - The Rebuilding Exchange

When I first learned about the up and coming non-profit building material reuse center known as the Rebuilding Exchange, I was beaming with joy.  Even though I am not in the field of green building or construction, I love figuring out ways to make better choices when it comes to art making materials and helping our city to become more environmentally friendly and greener.  In Colorado, I would often visit my local reuse center (Resource) when I needed materials or objects for art installations and projects.  I loved walking in and around the stacks of old windows, doors, and claw foot tubs imagining the stories and places these items came from.   After volunteering with Rebuilding Exchange, I realized the potential of exposing high school art students to the reuse centers as a way to learn hands-on about the issues of human waste while creating art projects involving materials that are actually coming from their own city, and maybe even their own neighborhoods.  The Rebuilding Exchange seems to be open to artists, teachers, and so on, and their ideas for potential projects.  So, you may not want to miss their grand opening this friday.  Just seeing the space is well worth it.  Here is a video from ABC.
